If you’ve gone vegetarian but are really craving some meaty treats from your childhood, there are some recipes that you can check out. Sure, you might not be able to make vegetarian chicken tenders, but something like making a sloppy joe is definitely doable.
Here’s a great recipe if you are in the mood to try out some sloppy joes with no ground meat involved at all.
Ingredients
6 hamburger buns
8 ounces of packages tempeh
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup minced green bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup minced onion
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 pinch ground black pepper
Directions
Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-low heat.
Cook onion in the oil until it becomes clear.
Put the tempeh into the skillet and stir until golden brown.
Add the green pepper and garlic and cook for another three minutes.
Enter all of the other ingredients and spices into the mix and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
